ROCK THE DREAM New Release Review | B.B. Miller + Leslie Carson – Author

Rock The Dream (Redfall Dream Series #1)

Authors: B.B. Miller & Leslie Carson

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: February 1, 2017

red-reviewed-by-lola

Rockstar romances are my jam and this was a  smashing debut to a new Rockstar series.  Rock The Dream is an incredibly inspiring and sexy love story that will leave you wanting more.  It’s also a slow burn with meet me in the “red room” undertones.

This unexpected tear-jerker has it all: famous rock group, groupies, Bromance and the girl next door.  Kennedy Lane is sexy, flawed and recklessly drowning in his grief.   Abigail is a hard nose professional who take no prisoners while telling it like it is.

When Kennedy falls for Abigail, he must prove himself to be worthy of a second chance.  His first impression is the typical hungover Rockstar with no care in the world.

While the authors stay true to the moniker “sex, drugs and rock roll” I will admit I was concern  about the drug use in the beginning .   They created  a story with tenderness and  validated how (and if) drug use can be depicted and still remain a swoon worthy romance.

At first glance, it may read like a typical bad boy Rockstar meets girl next door. But in the expert hands of Miller and Carson, it becomes a heart wrenching drama that poetically tackles themes of grief, love and the power of hope!  In a storm of addiction and stardom, Kennedy and Abby carve out the perfect happy every after.

Chapter 1

Kennedy

“Don’t you want more?” My voice sounds disembodied, dry, and raspy, like I’m a seventy-five-year-old chain smoker who doesn’t give a shit about what a lifetime of nicotine has done to his lungs.

A booming bass fills the penthouse suite at the San Francisco Fairmont, where my band, Redfall, and a host of strangers party into the night. “Mmm… You’re so fucking hot.” It’s a slurred and intoxicated whisper against my neck from some nameless groupie sitting on my lap. Gin and desperation roll off her in waves. She licks the curved chaos of ink snaking down my shoulder and grinds her skinny, naked body against mine. I shudder at the feel of skin and bones against me. She pushes her tits forward, and breathes in my ear. “Touch me, Kenny.”

“I always want more. So do you.” The voice of my tour manager, Brodie Dixon, drifts to me from somewhere far away. I lean back against the couch, trying to open my eyes in an attempt to find him. I feel like I’m floating in a dream or a nightmare; it’s hard to tell which. I’m stuck somewhere between reality and a fucked up fantasy.

“Name’s Kennedy,” I mumble.

“Kenny, Kenny, Kenny,” she chants as she rolls her hips against mine.

I turn my neck in the direction I think Brodie’s voice came from, making a feeble attempt to brush away the hand flattening against my stomach, and drifting south. I can feel her jagged nails scratching over my hip, fumbling, as she attempts to unhook my leather belt.

Her hot, liquor-laced breath fans over my exposed chest, and her fingers lazily drift along the tatt that covers my neck. She doesn’t give a shit about me. She’s just here because I’m Kennedy-Fucking-Lane and she wants to say she fucked me.

Somehow, I manage to open my eyes. Through an intoxicated haze, I can make out Brodie—at least I think it’s him—bent over a table, slowly moving his face along a mirrored surface. I lift the dead weight of the bottle of Jack to my lips, welcoming the burn as the whiskey hits my throat.

Muted light filters in from the gaps in the curtains, catching the glare from the mirror and splaying prisms of color over Brodie’s body. He leans back in the chair and lifts his hand to his nose, snorting back any excess coke he may have missed. He cracks his neck like he always does when he’s finished, and pats his thigh.

It feels like I’m watching in slow motion as a groupie appears like an apparition out of nowhere and floats to his lap, immediately wrapping her arms around his neck and crashing her lips to his.

I shut my eyes, guiding the heavy bottle back to my lips, hoping the magic liquid will block everything out. It hurts to swallow. My throat feels like it’s on fire. I wonder how much is enough to numb the pain.

THE KNIGHT New Release Review | Skye Warren (@skye_warren) – Author

red-reviewed-by-lola4 KINK Review | Source: Advanced Reader Copy provided by L Woods PR and author

Last month, I reviewed The Pawn by Skye Warren.  It was easily one of the best books I read this year, so naturally I couldn’t wait to get my hands on its sequel The Knight.  When I did, I wasn’t disappointed.  While it isn’t quite as enjoyable as the first, it is still a good book and fans of the series must continue reading.

http://amzn.to/2iJHOcm
http://amzn.to/2iJHOcm

The plot is every bit as complicated as the beginning.  The chess game metaphor provides infinite possibilities and this is where Ms. Warren excels.  There is something about revenge we crave. In The Knight, we find Avery left with a broken heart and a sense of betrayal from Gabriel Miller. There is an aura of sadness because Avery is left living in a crappy hotel on the wrong side of town.

During much of the story, I wanted Gabriel to swoop in and rescue her, of course Ms. Warren doesn’t make it easy for us readers.  Instead, the situation compels Avery to seek and destroy Gabriel and everyone else who is responsible for losing her mother’s house and her father’s incapacitation.

This book delves more into the history of Avery’s mother and father with the help of a diary.  Their past was merely hinted at in the first book.  This time around, we have hints of some sinister efforts on behalf of Avery’s father in regards to the death of his wife and the extremes he may have implemented with Gabriel to settle his debts.

Avery spends more time debating and denying her desire of Gabriel even when it’s obvious it’s his purpose to break her and take away the most important thing she has remaining –  the memory of a loving family.  While she is torn between how much she should hate Gabriel and how much her body craves him, she eventually accepts the idea he is more likely the lesser of two evils.

All in all, The Knight is a remarkable read.  Its premise is brilliant and it’s executed well.   You have twists and turns you don’t expect.  The sexual chemistry between Avery and Gabriel remains hotter than ever.  There’s something to be gained when you want the one person you know may not be good for you.   Fans of the first book will certainly want to read the continuation after the shell shocking cliffhanger.  If you haven’t already, I’d recommend reading the The Pawn before you attempt this one.

The third book, The Castle, is scheduled for release on April 4, 2017 so keep your eye out for our review.

The power of pleasure…

Gabriel Miller took everything from me. My family. My innocence. My home. The only thing I have left is the determination to get back what’s mine.

He thinks he’s beaten me. He thinks he’s won. What he doesn’t realize is that every pawn has the chance to become a queen.

And the game has only just begun.

THE KNIGHT is book two in the Endgame series from New York Times bestselling author Skye Warren about revenge and seduction in the game of love.

American Queen by Sierra Simone
Release Date: October 25th

red-reviewed-by-lola

WOW! I just held my breath for 6 hours!

I finished American Queen and the psychedelic trip I experience will remain for some time. I can now breathe again. Oh oh oh, the side effects are staggering. You will find yourself experiencing anxiety, increase heart rate, palpitations and insomnia.  I was up past 4am reading.  But the high was worth the sleepless night.

Sierra Simon’s writing is my illustrious drug of choice. And I am totally addicted.   I remember the cover reveal and thought, what a gorgeous cover! I remember reading the synopsis and thought, oh my this is going to be good. Instead it was even better than imagined. I believe there wasn’t anything that could topple Priest. I was so wrong. The last time I was left with a mood-altering drug induced state was after Priest. Naturally, I replace one hangover with a new hangover from the same dealer.

The more I read, the more my fixation was fueled. The secrets and lies are unveiled piece by piece like a puzzle. Each unveiling was hard to decode. As a reader, you are caught between a dangerous love triangle or maybe a forbidden ménage. You don’t really know.

The sex scenes are downright combustible, provocative, lewd and depraved. And that’s a good thing! But it’s more than just the one-hand read factor, it’s the dominance that President Maxen Ashley Colchester commands in the bedroom. As the most powerful man in the world, that rings very true in the Lincoln Bedroom too.

“..he’s Ash and I’m Greer, and when we’re alone, I belong on my knees”

American Queen is a story about an unforgettable teenage girl name Greer Galloway who catches the eye of the future President of the United States. Because of the age difference, she remains a fixture in his heart even when he falls in love with someone else. This is a love story churn into a twisted triangle. Or is it? In the meantime, I am going to marinate on the mind-blowing cliffhanger!!!!

red-read-an-excerpt

“I kept thinking about what I wanted to give you today for our wedding day, and honestly, Greer, there isn’t really anything I couldn’t give you. Jewelry or exotic vacations or rare editions of the books you love, anything I could have dreamed of, I could get for you—but they were just things. I didn’t want to get you a thing for a curio cabinet or a jewelry box. I wanted to give you something that you could carry with you through our new life together. Something that would make you a promise.”

The best man’s hand brushes up against my stocking-covered ankle and I gasp.
“What is it, princess?” Ash’s low voice comes over the phone line.
“Embry…I mean, Ash, I—” I can’t find the words just then, because Embry’s hand slides up my calf and everything stops. My thoughts, my feelings, my guilt—my world shrinks to Ash’s voice on the phone and the fingers moving past my knee and Embry’s face, so controlled. But lust and anger and determination are fissuring across that control, and I can see his wide pupils and the pulse pounding in his neck and the trembling of his lips.
What is happening? I think distantly to myself. What am I letting happen…and all while I’m on the phone with my soon-to-be husband?

3 KINK Review | Advanced Copy Kindly Gifted By Author/PR
The Rule Maker is a hilarious enemy to lovers’ romantic comedy. Zoey Reynolds has a one night stand with Ryder Covington. It ends badly and kudos to never ever seeing him again.
Fast forward, Zoey, an interior designer , lands a sweet contract to renovated a dilapidated ski resort purchased by Jason Covington. Jason is now a recluse and sends his brother Ryder to supervised the project. Ryder, a professional snowboarder, is recuperating from an injury and has agreed to help managed the remodel.
Zoey and Ryder reunion is priceless. It was hysterical and the main reason why I wanted to continue reading. It’s very original and I loved it! I fell in love with their drop dead witty dialogue. It’s filled with laugh-out-loud one line zingers throughout.
In the beginning the reunion is a little angst. Zoey is afraid Ryder will hurt her again . However, once Ryder and Zoey start working together they begin to accept their mutual attraction. Because of the dual POV, we have a good account why Ryder ditched Zoey the morning after. It helps to understand the reason because I want so much to give Ryder his swoon-worthy “good guy” badge.
In the end, Zoey’s dream is realized and Ryder finds someone he is willing to fight for at any cost. A joyful good read.

Synopsis: Ten Steps to Surviving a New Job:

1. Don’t sleep with the client. It’ll get you fired. (Sounds easy enough.)

2. Don’t blink when new client turns out to be former one-night stand.

3. Don’t call same client a jerk for never texting you back.

4. Don’t believe client when he says he really, really wanted to call.

5. Remember, the client is always right—so you can’t junk punch him when he demands new design after new design.

6. Ignore accelerated heartbeat every time sexy client walks into room.

7. Definitely ignore client’s large hands. They just mean he wears big gloves.

8. Don’t let client’s charm wear you down. Be strong.

9. Whatever you do, don’t fall for the client. You’ll lose more than your job—maybe even your heart.

10. If all else fails, see rule number one again.

Black excerpt

Snow gusting against the window was the only sound in the room as he searched for a show for us to watch.

So quiet. Way too quiet. I fidgeted with my necklace, moving the small diamond

back and forth on the chain. The last time I was in bed with Ryder…I didn’t even want to finish that thought, because it’d do nothing but make this situation worse. I chanced a peek in his direction.

He chewed the inside of his cheek, swiping through our options. “This is awkward, huh?” he said.

“We’ve achieved Urkel status.”

He chuckled and scrolled through the show queue. “Would you rather watch Law and Order: SVU or Criminal Minds?”

“That is quite possibly the worst Would You Rather question ever asked.”

His eyes cut to mine. “I didn’t know I was playing a game.”

“You’ve never played it?”
He shook his head.
Lainey and I played this game all the time in college,

and when we’d take road trips together. She always came up with the grossest ones. “It’s simple. All you have to do is ask the person which horrible thing they’d rather do. The harder

the question, the better. Like would you rather lay in a pit of snakes, or eat questionably dead roadkill?” I pointed to his phone. “Oh, John Tucker Must Die. I like that one.

“Negative, ghost rider.” He scrolled past my suggestion. “And what the hell does questionably dead mean? Is it still twitching, or are we talking suspicious cause of death?”

I shrugged. “The interpretation’s up to you.”

“You’re absolutely no help.” He swiped his thumb across his beard and contemplated. “I guess I’d go with the snakes.”

“Okay, now it’s your turn,” I said.

“Do I really have to play? I thought we were picking a show.”

I shot him a look.

“Fine. Would you rather have me or Chewbacca as your valentine?”

“Too easy. The spider.”
He put his hand to his heart. “You wound me.”
“Stop being such a baby.” I swatted at his chest and

immediately pulled my hand back. Nope. Would not go there. “Okay, would you rather not be able to see or talk for a month?”

He answered instantly. “See.”

“Right. You’d probably go nuts if you couldn’t open that big mouth of yours.”

His lips twitched. “You’re one to talk.”

“Excuse me?” Okay, I did have a tough time keeping my thoughts on lockdown outside the office, but that was my own cross to bear.

“Don’t even try to play it off like you’re innocent.”

I’d dated a lot of losers in the past, most who hadn’t even bothered to get to know me, but even after only hanging out a few times, Ryder had me pegged. He was perceptive. I saw the look in his eyes whenever I dealt with Jason. His attention focused solely on me was unnerving. “Jerk,” I sputtered.

“Now I know you’re holding back. You can do way better than that.” He scrolled through his phone again. “How about Die Hard?”

“Are all your show selections about death? I’m starting to worry I’d made a mistake coming over here.” My lips pulled into a smile and I quickly extinguished it. God, I wanted to hate him.

“Fine.” He continued looking at the Netflix queue. “Would you rather eat sushi from a taco stand, or lick an airplane armrest?”

“Good one. Sushi.” I pointed to his screen. “How about

10 Things I Hate About You?”He shook his head and chuckled. “Are all of your

suggestions going to not-so-subtly tell me you hate me?”
I smiled sweetly. “Maybe.”
“Just think, most people would find this to be a romantic

escape. Two people, stuck in the mountains on Valentine’s Day,” he said.

“We’re Hallmark movie material, all right,” I deadpanned.

“Okay, fine. How about The Walking Dead?”

“Your show picking powers have been officially revoked.” I grabbed the phone from his hand.

“Hey!” He grabbed for the phone and I held it out of reach. “You’re going to regret that.” Within seconds he was on top of me, playfully pinning me to the bed, his strong hands circling my wrists. Air evaporated from my lungs as

our gazes connected.
I was immediately transported back to that night.
Tell me what you want, Zoey. Tell me what you need from

I swallowed hard. That was months ago, and those words still haunted me from time to time. Because he did exactly that, gave me what I wanted and needed. Repeatedly.

Release Day Review: POTUS | Selena Laurence (@selenalaurence) – Author

POTUS_1600x2400 copy

red-reviewed-by-lola

Once Upon a Time, a woman was elected as Commander in Chief.    No, it’s not Olivia Pope! That would be scandalous.  It’s Jessica Hampton, a widow whose husband died in a plane crash.  Jessica Hampton is balancing matters of national security and a non-existing personal life.

POTUS is a timeless romance that flips the script with a female widow as President.  Imagine your best friend, a Senator from Texas, barging through the doors of the Oval Office and setting up a double date. Its pure wackadoodle, right? However, the author can pull it off.

Kamal Masri is the Egyptian ambassador to the United States.  He is the epitome of tall, dark and handsome.   He had me at “Your staff disrespects you.” From their first introduction, it was kismet.  It was all heat, pent-up desire and longing rolled into a perfect package.  He immediately becomes her confident and friend.  She takes care of the country. He takes care of her.  Oh my! Sign me up immediately.

The storyline is surprising sweet and erotic at the same time.  As a widow, it would be hard to create scenarios of sex scenes rolling around the sheets in the Lincoln Bedroom.  How do you make a total unbelievable scenario believable and sexy?  Immediately, you have questions with an eye roll.

How did she get elected?

Why did she get elected?

She can’t date.  She can’t have casual sex. She can’t indulge in phone sex? She can’t indulge in a little kink. So, what must a 37-year-old single woman with a healthy appetite for sex do to get love and affection while negotiating   peace treaties and trade agreements?

POTUS works because the story doesn’t take itself too seriously.  It has the right mix of political elements to create a credible foundation before indulging in flights of Patriotism and Heroism. It will take you by surprise and make you exhale.

Its #KINKapproved  with 4 KINKS!  Source: Advanced Reader Copy kindly gifted by author

A President beloved by her nation.

Jessica Hampton is the heir to a political dynasty. For nearly ten years she has given up everything in order to fulfill her late husband’s legacy. But now, as her first, and she hopes only, presidential term draws to a close, she wants nothing more than to finish with the dignity her family demands. But when Jessica begins to negotiate an important Middle East accord with the sexy Egyptian Ambassador, being President takes a back seat to being a woman, and she will be forced to choose between the Ambassador she might love, the nation she’s sworn to serve, and the family who’s given her everything.

A son trapped by his father.

Kamal Masri knows all about being an heir. He’s not only Egypt’s Ambassador to the U.S., he’s the first-born son of one of the world’s wealthiest men. His father has controlled his fortune, his career, and now possibly his life. Because when the Egyptian parliament instructs Kamal to negotiate an accord that threatens his father’s illegal business dealings, all hell is about to break loose, and Kamal will be forced to choose between the American President he might love, the nation he’s sworn to serve, and the father who’s given him everything.

They’re backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk! One of my favorite couples are back with another sexy dilemma. Reading Entice Me is like having coffee with the girls and talking about our BFF, Mrs. Nikki Fairchild Stark. If you are a follower of my reviews, then you know my mantra “there is no such thing as too much Damien and Nikki.”

You get to catch up on their daily life including work, hanging out with family and friends and celebrating milestones. This time is Damien’s birthday. What do you get the man who has everything? Poor darling Nikki (thank you PRINCE!). What’s a girl to do when purchasing an Audemars Piguet is so mundane?

It’s true a sucker is born every minute and Damien Stark is not the one! He can see through any ruse she tries to implement to pull off the perfect birthday event. Therefore, with the help of everyone, she will plan the perfect “surprise” birthday party with a double con: a birthday disguised as something completely unrelated to his birthday.

For a novella, it packs a hell of a wallop. Kenner delivers the goods again! It grabs your attention from the first page and the sexual chemistry is still heart racing and erotic. Their sex scenes continue to burn up the pages with all their hotness. It leaves you breathless and eager for more. A perfect prelude to Anchor Me releasing April 11, 2017.

red-read-an-excerpt

He bends down so that his lips graze my ear. “Dance for me, baby. Right now.”
”Is that what you want?” I ask. “To watch me dance? Because I have something else in mind.”
His brow rises. “Do you?”
“Mmm,” I say, then start humming as I pull out my phone and find my current favorite song on my workout playlist. A little fast. A little raunchy. A lot fun. I click the button to send it through our sound system, and when the music starts, I press my hand to Damien’s chest and jauntily strut forward, forcing him backward to the padded bench that is intended as a place to sit and wait for the elevator. Right now, I have a different purpose in mind.
“I’ll dance,” I say, doing a shimmy and pulling off my T-shirt in the process. “I’ll even do a stripper dance,” I add. “But I don’t do solo shows. I require full participation.”
“Do you?”
“Absolutely,” I say, turning around so that my back is to him as I shake and shimmy in time with the music and very, very slowly ease my skirt off.
When I turn around, I’m dressed only in my bra and panties, and though I should feel silly, I don’t. Maybe it’s the alcohol. Maybe it’s the lingering high from fucking him in the limo. Maybe it’s the heated way that he’s watching my every move.
Maybe it’s the simple fact that I love my husband.
Whatever the reason, I’m enjoying showing off, turning him on and getting turned on in the process. And as I think that, I slide one hand over my bra and the other down my abdomen to cup myself over my panties.
I have my eyes closed, and the music’s loud, but I still hear Damien’s sharp intake of breath. I figure that’s as good a cue as any, and I open my eyes and strut toward him, then reach out a hand to pull him up.
He complies, amused, and I do my own version of a pole dance, with Damien playing the role of my pole. Up and down, stroking and teasing, shimmying and shaking. It’s a little erotic and a little silly, and by the time I have my bra off and am about to step out of my panties, I’m both desperately wet and giggling furiously.
I bend over to untangle my panties from around my ankle, and when I do, my giggles turn to squeals as Damien scoops me up and tosses me over his shoulder. I pound uselessly on his back, then cry out when he pitches me unceremoniously onto the bed.
“What are you–?”
“Shhh.” He puts his finger over his mouth, then strips off his own clothes. And though he doesn’t add any dance moves, I can’t deny that I enjoy the show.
Slowly, he eases onto the bed and straddles me. “I liked your dance,” he says. “I like even more that you did it because I told you I wanted it.”
“Anything you want,” I whisper, my voice throaty. “You know that.”
“I want you,” he says, then brushes a kiss over my lips.

THE BACHELOR GONE BATSHIT CRAZY

Side Note: I believe in reviews without spoilers. As a reader, I feel it’s my duty to give a good accounting on what readers should expect from reading this book.  If this review appears to be filled with spoilers, I apologize.

Do you see the warning above? This time it’s not a marketing gimmick. Please take notice of the author’s warning.  I started reading this book on my kindle during a flight and had to put it away.  This is the book you do not read in polite company. I was looking around to make sure no one was reading over my shoulder.

The luxury of Kindles, iPads, and Nooks are the secrets they hold – the smart, dirty books with the filthy language we all love and expect from our favorite romance authors.  For Wicked Bride Games, even your Kindle is not safe.  As a reader who has been 29 for many years, even I was not old enough to read this book.  It’s a total mindfcuk.  And I know Amazon will kick this review back for language however the book cannot be reviewed without “offensive language”

Wicked Bride Games is a thorough gruesome story with plenty of eerie images to give you chilling nightmares.  It will leave a bitter taste in your mouth when it’s over.  The scenes of torture and death are brutal and explicit. It will linger in your memory long after the last page.

The purpose of Wicked Bride Games takes THE BACHELOR and ask what will happen if the losing contestations are killed?  There are references to suicide, madness and mutilation.

Grim, shocking, violent, terrifying and downright creepy are just a few adjectives to describe Wicked Bride Games.  The line between good and evil is erased with evil coming out on top. The three brothers have a morbid fascination with inflicting pain on the women in the name of “playing the game” of twisted sexual urges and perversities.

This is dark stuff and not for the weak. Readers of Stephan King may enjoy the gore, darkness, tension and mystery. The author proves a great book does not always have or need a satisfying ending. If the author manages to make you feel awkward and uncomfortable, they have succeeded. Wicked Bride Games is pure catnip for lovers of dark reads.

Excerpt from Wicked Bride Games

“Don’t you understand that I’m the only one here who gives a shit about you?” he growls.
I try to shove him away, but he won’t let me go, so I slap him instead.

He releases me from his grasp, and I step back, watching him with a hawk’s eye. He touches his face with his hand, his fingers grazing his beautiful skin, and it’s at this moment that feels most vulnerable. Most afraid. Because whatever he’s going to do or say next isn’t good, and it’s my fault.

“I …” I stutter.

He comes toward me, and I stumble backward until the balcony is right behind me and there’s no way to flee. He’s got me cornered, and his eyes predict thunder, but I’m afraid I can’t handle the electricity.

I close my eyes, expecting the inevitable.

Instead, he grabs my face with both hands … and he kisses me.

He fucking kisses me.

And I don’t even fucking pull back.

What the hell?

His lips smash into mine, and he ravages me without holding back. I’m helpless to stop it—not because I can’t, but because my body doesn’t want him to stop. His tongue dips out to lick my lips, coaxing me to open my mouth and let him in. I do, without hesitation, and he claims my mouth and tongue like it’s always belonged to him.

I’m completely stunned. I can only stand here and allow him to conquer my mouth, even though it makes no sense. I should hate him for putting me through all this. I should push him away and fight back. But I don’t … and I hate that more than I hate anything.

In a moment of clarity, my lips unlock from his, and I lean away, staring at him because I can’t believe that just happened.

I’m not exactly the kissing type … but that was amazing. And wrong. So fucking wrong, I might’ve even liked it.

“I told you I only want you. It’s the truth,” he whispers, his voice heady and sultry. My lips still tingle from his kiss, and I can feel the excitement surging through my body. Goddammit.

“I don’t give a damn if you slap me. I probably deserved it.”

The guilty pleasure of this political season is Commander in Chief. Book #2 in the White Series by Katy Evans. It’s the continuing story of Charlotte falling in love with Matt Hamilton, the future President of the United States.

It’s pure escapism. As a character, Charlotte is escaping into the world of POTUS as much as we are as a reader. It’s a ridiculously charming tale of Cinderella, a timeless classic.

Charlotte gets her Prince Charming, Matt Hamilton, and moves into the castle, i.e. White House. As a fairy tale, the story follows a predictable pattern. It’s sweet, light, innocent and beautiful.

It’s about falling in love against the backdrop of politics and the daily grind of Presidential duties mix with a little intrigue even though the story drags at certain points. If you are looking for angst, this is not the story. I never knew I crave drama in my romance stories. I was hoping for a few scandals like Charlotte moving into the White House as acting First Lady, a paid position.

However, in the end its romance! It’s pure romance with no drama, no angst and no groveling. The details of their married life are beautiful and thoughtful. Matty, their son steals the show, if that’s even possible in a book.

He was born in the White House which is the only home he knows. From the mind of a 2 year old – the most epic dialogue between mother and son:

“Why do they all want to be Dad?”
“Hmm?”
“They all want to be pwesident.” He frowns menacingly.

The innocence of a child, home and family. I repeat pure romance.

“Listen up, ladies,” Max says. “I know you must be confused, so let me explain what’s going to happen.”

I can feel the air thicken with angst.

It chokes me, even though it isn’t my fear I’m feeling. It’s the girls’ fear.

“Each of you signed a contract with one of us. You were picked because you are special. You are beautiful. You are smart. You are perfect. Which is exactly why we want you. Why you now belong to us. And it’s why we chose you for this game.”

“What game?” Camilla interrupts.

Anthony lifts his finger and places it on his lips, silencing her without saying a single word.

“Our game. To win it, you must compete against each other. You will earn fifty million dollars if you win our game. The rules are simple. Entertain us in whatever way necessary, and you will win.”

“How?” I ask bluntly, not giving a shit whether I’m allowed to ask questions.

Max bites his lip. I don’t know why I see it, but I do. “By doing everything we desire. Whether it be serving us, massaging us—”

“Or undressing for us,” Anthony adds.

Devon grins. “Or being fucked in any orifice.”

“What?” Jordan’s jaw drops.

“Do you mean …” Stacey mutters.

Asya, who’s standing beside me, grabs my hand and squeezes it tight. I want to shake her loose, but I know that’s not in my best interest now. It wouldn’t look good, and I will fucking look good if I have to fight these girls for the same prize.

“Yes, you heard that right,” Max muses, his eyes honing in on my face. “Sex. Anything goes. Anywhere. Any time. Any fucking thing that we want, you will do it.”

He takes a step into my direction, one foot ahead of the other as he broadens his shoulders, obviously trying to intimidate me.

“Do you want to get fifty million dollars? Earn it. Follow the rules.” I know he’s talking to all of the girls, but his eyes are on me. “Do not defy us. Do not deny us pleasure. Fail, and you will be eliminated, the contract nullified. That’s all. Any questions?”

Eliminated.

I wonder in what sense.

Stacey raises her hand, and Max signals her to speak. “What are the rules exactly?”

Max’s wicked smile somehow finds its way into my devious little heart. “You’ll find out soon enough.”
