Chess players know the pieces of the game: KING, Queen, Bishop, Knight, Rook and Pawn. The gameboard represents the battlefield where the pieces fight. The king is the most importance piece in the game. You always protect the King. Therefore, the goal of the game is to checkmate the opponent’s King, meaning the king is put into check and cannot get out of the check.

Huh? What?! Yeah that’s what I think. I am not a chess player. I wish I was a chess player. I am in awe of the concept. This latest release from author Skye Warren has me adding a chess game to my Christmas wish list. Like me, you will crave to understand the game of chess itself to take this epic journey with Avery and Gabriel.

The Endgame Series will be one of the most well-crafted highly anticipated releases for 2017. It excites me just thinking about it. We will crave more of the character’s actions and how they intersect metaphorical with the game pieces. Plus, the ending will reveal an unexpected plot twist.

IMHO, The Pawn illustrates how to never underestimate what a woman can do.
