Yes, Hardball stole the base and my heart. Dash Wallace is my new Baseball GOD! He is alluring, charismatic and incredibly sensual and tries his best not to let Vivian get too close. I started this book on Friday 13th, very fitting for the amusing superstitions Dash and many players subscribe to. Be afraid when he can’t get a woman’s essence on him, either on his body or his fingers. He needs sex before the game to ensure no errors and a great batting average of .400. He has women scattered around the league to ensure he keeps his substitutions in check.
Then perky librarian Vivian Foster enters the ballpark and the game. As his new obsession, she is wreaking havoc on his routine. With a full count, he starts the relationship with an expiration date. It ends when he goes away to spring training. Vivian does not want any part of that and Dash has no time for distractions. Instead, he tries to designate her as his LA friend with benefits for home games. He needs to keep his rituals with the same women and the same routine.
The sexual tension is off the charts. The intimacy is so enduring he will grip your heart and soul to make Vivian comfortable enough to enjoy oral sex. That scene is my favorite. And he does a great job! For a slow burner read, it quickly picks up the sexual heat and the sensual romance. He has a knack for dirty sexting and the ability to keep Vivian sore thanks to their roller coaster sexcapades. Their relationship with a timeclock takes several wrong turns on the way to happily ever after. However, in the end Dash realizes he cares and loves Vivian more than his superstitions and that makes him a MVP in my book!
