MY TWO CENTS: 4.5 KINK REVIEW
One of the most beautiful stories with an unconventional story line. I admit, I got a little teary-eyed at the end. If you want a controversial sexually-charged erotic romance, The Kingmaker does not disappoint.
Politics. Power. Money. Lust. Sex. Scandal and Love. You get it all ! And I got my fix! Then again, I would not have predicted a scandal of this magnitude in my wildest expectations.
You can be sure that a good ‘ole-fashion sex scandal could not overshadow the issues in this story. Nevertheless, I liked not knowing the big secret.
Ms. Laurence added many twists and turns to this sexy story of secrets and betrayals while creating a longing of desire between two characters who want to be together. As a romance reader, we can easily predict the happily ever after ending. The fun thing about this book is the journey to the HEA.
The sexual passion between Derek and London is intense. London – mysterious, complicated, strong-willed – is a woman without a sense of belonging and self-worth. She finally finds herself enthralled in a relationship with Derek, a powerful politico figure, who is willing to protect her at all cost. He is totally non-judgmental and proud to have her on his arm ~ even at the White House! That’s what I love about Derek.
Even though the sexual foreplay is understated, the attraction and connection between them is profoundly intense. The chemistry builds between Derek and London and the inevitable climax in the end is one of the best love scenes to date. It’s hot and sensual.
In closing, it is satisfyingly erotic and romantic without being excessive, especially with the nature of London’s job. While some will not agree with the premise of the story, I found it tasteful and pleasing.
