they’ve found their own real-life happy ending?
It’s Cute Worthy!
Small town nurse, Faith Logan, wins an all expense trip to New York City as the winner of the charity event sponsored by movie superstar Irwin Freeman. Suddenly, Faith is whisked away to New York City. As the title implies, her first visit to the Big Apple results in her falling in love with city and the man!
When she arrives, she is not impressed with the celebrity nightclub hotspots and paparazzi-studded events. When Irwin meets Faith, there is something about her innocence, freshness and small town charm which takes him by surprise. When the dreaded weekend is over, Irwin’s realizes he has a desire to continuing seeing her.
Her life becomes surreal when Irvin finds himself flying back home with Faith to South Carolina, introducing himself to her friends and family as the boyfriend.
I like the author’s sense of style. The muse for her hero Irwin, is loosely based on the British actor Idris Elba right down to the sexy British accent. It’s very easy to find yourself engaged as you picture kissing “his chocolate lips”
Where A New York Kind of Love leaves me is the twin sister with the drug problem. I would much prefer that tidbit of plot to remain OUT! I want to escape for a few hours and not be reminded about reality! I didn’t see a place for it!
The bottom line: It has a charming plot and easy storyline. There are some predictable elements, but the I’m a Hollywood Celebrity subgenre remains true. It comes complete with sophisticated writing that outshines brightly against the many plotlines marketed to the African-American community.
